Once the fireworks were finished, we battled our way out of the crowd to head over to Sunset Showcase – which is over near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. I found out about this event by pure chance, and since it featured Disney Villains, I made sure we got tickets to the event. I don’t think they host Club Villain any more, which is a shame. Villain events seem to go down really well with Disney fans!
A World of Malevolent Delight
Rub elbows with some of the most nefarious Disney Villains and explore your evil side at Club Villain! Venture to the Potions Bar for enticing speciality cocktails, and sample wicked hors d’oeuvres and delectable desserts inspired by the Villains themselves. Dance the night away to the hot sounds of Thibodeaux, the hypnotic DJ. Be on the watch for your host, the Shadow Man himself, Dr. Facilier, along with his dancers and club manager Kanzo!
Club Villain is a nightclub/dinner show type affair – it isn’t officially adults only, but with no children’s ticket price option, it was clearly aimed at adults. Included in the price of a ticket (which I think was around $120 (eek!) per person) was food and drinks – including alcohol and speciality cocktails – and themed desserts; as well as the meeting of four Disney Villains – Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty; The Evil Queen from Snow White; Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations; and The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland.
There was the DJ station at the top end of the space, with a dance floor in the middle surrounded by cocktail tables and chairs. Hung above was the most awesome Poison Apple disco ball, and the general decor was New Orleans Voodoo inspired – fitting as the event is hosted by Dr. Facilier from The Princess and The Frog.
We were given a card pamphlet when we checked in, with our table number, and meet and greet time slots. The autographs of the Disney Villains were also printed on the card, making them a great souvenir.
After Maleficent, The Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil, and The Queen of Hearts were introduced to the audience, they each made their way to their thrones and themed area for the meet and greets. Having a time slot meant minimal waiting to meet them, and you didn’t feel rushed either.
For some reason I don’t seem to have a picture of Cruella de Vil’s area which is annoying! But here are the others…
I mentioned that we were allocated table numbers. The cocktail sized tables sat four people, so we shared with another couple. The food was stationed towards the back of the room – I don’t have photos of all the individual things, but do have a couple of plates of food that we had dished up for ourselves.
There were three different food stations, plus four themed dessert stations for each of the Villains. The food and the desserts were both really good!
Sautéed Station
- Creamy Polenta with Fire Kissed Corn
- Shrimp Sautéed with Spicy Andouille Sausage, Tomato, Okra and onions
- Rosemary Crisp
Carving Station
- Chilled Haricot Verts with Muffuletta Vinaigrette
- Bourbon Bread Pudding “Beignet”
- Herbes de Provence Rubbed Striploin of Beef carved on Aromatic Black Iron
- Herbs and Garlic
- Wild Mushroom Demi
Cast Iron Station
- Vegetable Kale and Collard Slaw with Watermelon Vinaigrette
- Vegetarian Dirty Rice
- Vegetarian Black Eyed Peas
- Cajun Chicken Thigh Gumbo
- Voodoo Sticky Pig Wings with Citrus Gremolata
The desserts were of the mini variety, and just so well themed! We’ve never been to a dessert party before, but seeing this bunch of desserts makes me want to try one, at least once!
Maleficent’s Desserts
- Purple Angel Food Cupcake with Chocolate Evil Horns
- Red Wine Cheesecake Pushups with Dark Cherry Gel
The Evil Queen’s Desserts
- Green and Red Truffles with Apple Stem on Spoons
- Green Apple Mousse with Green Glitter Glaze, Leaf and Chocolate Stem
Cruella de Vil’s Desserts
- Chocolate Tart with Paw Print Coin
- White Panna Cotta with Black Chocolate Sauce and Mini White Dog Bones
The Queen of Hearts’ Desserts
- Macarons with Red Heart
- Red Velvet Cupcakes with Heart Sprinkles
Speciality cocktails were also available, but as usual I was driving, so didn’t have any. I really need to remember to use Disney Transport more so that I can have a few drinks – especially when they’re included! We stuck to soft drinks during the night because you could grab cans of those. The line for the bar was one of the longest during the night!
Here are the cocktail descriptions though – they sound delicious!
The Cursed Violet is Maleficent’s cocktail and contains Citrus Vodka, Creme de Cassis, Monin Blackcurrant Syrup, and Lemonade.
Cruella De Vil’s cocktail of choice is the Devious Dalmatian which combines Godiva® White Chocolate Liqueur, Milk, and Coconut Milk, Garnished with Boba Pearls.
Overall we had an awesome night – the entertainment was amazing – the Club Manager, Kanzo (left of Dr. Facilier above) had an astounding voice! I’m not sure if Steve filmed any of this – I’ve barely looked at video footage of this trip… and of course meeting the Villains was fab! The only thing that annoyed me was that The Queen of Hearts was a lot more slender than her cartoon counterpart – could they not have found a more plus size Queen?
I’ll close out with more photographs that I took of them. You can probably guess that Maleficent is my all-time favourite Disney Villain, given the amount of photos I took of her!
It decided to rain as we left Club Villain, so we made as quick a possible dash back to the car and drove home for our last night at Animal Kingdom Lodge: Kidani Village.
We were both very excited for tomorrow – Walt Disney World’s 45th Anniversary!
