After a while, we got the boat back over the lagoon, and did a bit of wandering about, looked at the cranberry bog, bought some Epcot Food & Wine Festival merchandise, grabbed a coffee… not much in this part of the trip report in the way of words I’m afraid!
We bought a couple of things in this festival shop. Having already struggled to (unsuccessfully) find a festival pin (check out my pin collection video here), I wanted to make sure we got a fridge magnet (something I collect from the places we go), and also some of the wine glasses too. I’m going to be making a Disney merchandise haul video very soon, so keep an eye out for that! Subscribe to my YouTube channel so that you don’t miss it!
The Ocean Spray Cranberry Bog demonstrates how cranberries are harvested, with Cast Members in waders, standing in the bog, raking the cranberries – it was pretty cool! If you didn’t know, to harvest the fruit, the farmers flood the field where they grow on long vines, with up to 18 inches of water. The rakes then loosen the cranberries, which float to the surface. The Epcot Food & Wine Festival runs during the annual harvest of cranberries in North America, so it’s a great demonstration – and you can get free bags of dried cranberries too. Yum!
We bought a couple of coffees from a stall in the Canada Pavilion – paid out of pocket for them – but can’t remember how much. By now it was approaching early evening, and the wind had really picked up. I’d go as far as to say a little bit chilly, but not cold enough to cover up with a jacket or anything.
We had a dinner reservation at Le Cellier, but was too early to check in for that, so took a wander to the Disney Vacation Club stand, and had a chat with the guy there. We ended up booking a DVC Tour, (which we also took in 2013) as we were very interested in purchasing this time around. We booked in for the next day, and all about that will be coming up soon. As well as a more detailed post about being a DVC member.
